Girls in the Game is a program Sara supports. It provides a chance for inner-city Chicago girls to take part in sports, to learn team building, and to build self-respect. For most Chicago school girls, it is the only chance to do sports: the city has shut down recess in most of its schools, and most sports programs are geared to boys who want to play competitively. Here, Sara gets a chance to jump rope with a very supportive team behind her. If you'd like to help, go here.
Sara is standing between Arthur Marchet and Odile Hellier, who organized a program for her at the American Library in Paris.
Andy Smith and Kerry Hood, shown outside the BBC in London, are teaching Sara to bet. They're about to put her first horse racing bet into the mail.
