Sara, Callie and Bark Magazine

I think if you click on this link, you will be able to read  a PDF file of Callie’s and my story in Bark Magazine.  If the link doesn’t work, I’ll see what I can do to load content directly.  In the photo, the wood plaque I’m holding was a Christmas present from my woodworking son Phil.  If you want to order one for yourself, I can put you in touch with him!

Enjoyed reading the story about how you got hooked on goldens. Once you have one, you never want any other breed of dog. The golden retriever rescues get great dogs, and I’m the proud owner of my second golden rescue dog.

You mention that you spend a lot of time in the books on details about VI’s goldens, Peppy and Mitch. That’s funny, I would like for you to write more about them.

May I here talk about another Callie?
I love mysteries and also children’s books, and now I’m reading this year’s Newbury Honor Book, “The evolution of Calpurnia Tate”. The heroine, Callie Vee is an elevn year old girl at the end of the 19th century who loves every living creature and wants to read Darwin’s book.
It’s very interesting that 4 out of the 5 Newbury 2010 Award winners describe young girls with some decision in their mind.

  • Loved the article, Sara! And personally, I don’t think you spend too much time on the dog details at all. I love reading about them.

  • Saule, I’ll get Calpurnia Tate when I’m at Women & Children First today–sounds great
